ANNUAL PICNIC
SHELL COMPANY OUTING About 250 people were present at the annual picnic of the Auckland staff of the. Shell Company of New Zealand, Limited, which was held at Ferndale on Wednesday. A full and varied sports programme occupied the greater portion of the day, and the swimming pool was well patronised. Mrs. C. A. Best presented the prizes for the various events at the conclusion of the day. Following are the results: Shell championship (ladies): Miss Cooper, 1; Miss Lucas, 2. Married ladies’ race: Mrs. Harris, 1; Mrs. Middleton, 2. Shell championship (men): F. S. Stubbs, 1; Serjeant and Wilson, dead heat, 2. Egg and spoon race: Mrs. Harris, 1; Mrs. Whittaker, 2. Tug-o’-war: Office team. Department handicap (office and sales): H. H. Holland, 1; I. Serjeant. 2. Departmental handicap (installation and transHutchinson, 1; W. Sharp, 2. 100yds. handicap: B. Bassett, 1; I. Sergeant, 2. Relay race: Mrs. Harris, Messrs. Kirk, Austin and Hutchinson. Wheelbarrow race: Miss Lucas and Mr. F. S. Stubbs, 1; Mrs. and Mr. Horspool, 2. Sack race: S. Kirk, 1; T. Serjeant, 2.
