HORSES IN WORK TEA TIME IMPROVING
(Special to THE §L2Vj TE AROHA, Friday. ' Mr E. Aislabie’s Glen Albyn geld- • c Every Day, intended to compete steeplechase events at the —nemuri meeting - , made a good dis- ' iv over two miles yesterday, jumpe really well throughout. 4 bay gelding by Tonbridge has just v ne d J* H. Wallace s team, and has 1° de a start with his track duties. He \ very fine stamp of a thorough- . with splendid fore end, well nrung ribs, short back and powerful ; and looks like one that should ike go®* l - . . . ■ Wera has not yet been success- . i in his flat racing essays, but may, time, do better over the fences. He to compete in the Ruakaka Hurdles week. _ A New Trainer 4 four-year-old Marble Arch geld- ' has been taken in hand by M. ; D€V> who this season has been head distant at G. A. Reid's stable. He his capability with horses n d there is no reason why he should rot bo successful with his new charge, , rich is owned by a well-known settler t ,f Waitoa. Queen Arch appears to be all the better for her recent racing. As a rule she runs best on a damp or even muddy course, but is such a game | ie that her chances can never be 1 ,-btly dismissed. ‘ Among the track workers yesterday x\as the veteran Royal Blood. He has brought in from an extended spell .md appears to be too big in condition to account for the best sprinters here this week-end. The Archiestow :i gelding, Sir Russell. is looking brighter than when he arrived, and should soon be galloping up to his best style. British King was not at his best rn Thursday morning, for he finished veil back in a five-furlong sprint with three hacks. it may have been an off day for him, for her certainly looks { upable of doing better. Tea Time was too good for Ruffles in a spin over live furlongs yesterday, ,nd as he carried more weight than the Quin Abbey gelding, it does not |.,ok as if the latter has made the expected improvement since Takapuna, when he ran second to High Finance! For the past three or four weeks indolent has been executing work that would justify his owner in expecting him to score shortly. Yesterday, however, in a five furlong run he did not finish as resolutely as usual, but even now cannot be discounted, as maybe he will run better when carrying silk.
