Changing Fortunes

SUBURBAN CRICKET TEAMS Younger Sides as Spoilers SENIOR A play in the Suburban Cricket Association at present is more changeable than it has been for years. Teams which have been right at the top of the competition have been badly defeated by younger teams, and the reversals have been closely followed by cricket supporters. At the Domain to-morrow afternoon, another series of matches in the second round will be begun.

JJARBOUR BOARD, which is still I confident of winning the season’s honours, has been drawn to play Glen Eden on the first wicket. The Board has much the better chance of winning, as the Edeners have been particularly erratic lately. Len Martin, the Board's capable bowler, is expected to cause trouble in the Glen Eden scoring machine. The centre wicket has been allotted Green Lane and Ellerslie. The game should produce fine batting. Gedye and Ralph Burton, who scored over 300 between them for a first wicket partnership the other day, will be out for Ellerslie, while the Laners can offer the batting of George Cox, the English coach, and a flock of young players, notably Clive Watts, who scored a century last Saturday. Ponsonby plays Victoria on the third wicket. After its win over Harbour Board last Saturday, Ponsonby -will be anxious to win and be a serious contender for the championship. Victoria had a set-back to its chances when it was beaten by Green Lane in the last match.
