Local Cyclist’s Plan AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON -43-HOUR DASH PROPOSED At 1 o'clock next Thursday morning, the well-known racing cyclist, H. G. Brewin, will leave Auckland in an attempt to break the Auck-land-Wellington cycling record. Weather and other circumstances permitting, he hopes to raich Wellington by nightfall next Friday evening, thus covering the 481 mtle journey in approximately 43 hourslast attempt was made by another Aucklander, Alex Sutherland, who took about 73 hours to do tho trip. But Sutherlands ride was made under winter conditions, and he was unfortunate to strike very bad weather and bad roads during part of the journey. Brewin is confident that he can considerably reduce Sutherland's time. The route Brewin will take and his approximate times are as follow: Leave Auckland 1 a.m. Thursday; Mercer, 4.30 a.m. Hamilton, 9 a.m.; Te Kuiti, 1.30 p.m.; Awakino, 7 p.m. Wanganui, 5 a.m. Friday; Palmerston iNorth. 10 a.m.; arrive Wellington about nightfall, Friday. Brewin will be accompanied from Hamilton to Awakino by J. C. Stewart, another well-known rider who recently covered 1,000 miles in seven days on a holiday tour of the Xorth Island. Brewin will no doubt appreciate the company of any other rider who would care to accompany him on other stages of the journey.
