CHANGE OF STATUS MADE The conversion of the New Lynn town district into a borough was popular with a large majority of the voters at Wednesday’s poll, but onlv one-third of the residents of the district voted. The corrected figures were: In favour, 376; against, 192—giving a majority of 184. New Lynn will rank about fortieth on the roll of boroughs, of which there are about 120 in the Dominion. The present population of the two square miles of the town district is 3,000, and the borough will include the district of Kelston
