TAURANGA BOWLS TOURNEY WAIKATO RINKS IN FINAL ‘ (From Our Own Correspondent) TAURANGA, Thursday. Tho final stages of the Tauranga Bowling Club’s tournament were reached to-day. At the end of the eighth round. Fraser Smith (Frankton) had won Section 2, and a keen tussle in Section 1 between Pilkington (Hamilton) and Cronin (Tauranga) gave the well-known Waikato skip a win bv 24 points to 21. He thus earns the right to contest the final to-mor-row against Fraser Smith. To-day’s results were: SEVENTH ROUND Section I—Te Puke, 25, v. Mount Eden, 22; Tauranga (Cronin), 21, v. BY ONE POINT FRASER SMITH WINS FINAL (Special to THE SUN) TAURANGA, To-day. ; The Anal in the bowling tournament was won by Frankton (Chi las, Wheeler, Craivshaw. Fraser Smith), 17. from Hamilton (Meredith, Jones, Chapmai:, Pi Iking ton), IC, after a dose and interesting game on a pertect green, The winners had a great reception, as Fraser Smith has been a constant visitor to the Tauranga tournament during the past ten years, along with his third, Crawshaw. BOWLING AT RAWENE MATCH AGAINST KAIKOHE A party of 10 bowlers from the. Ivaikohe Bowling Club visited Uuwene last Sunday to play the challenge match for the Morgan Cup Two teams were Picked and the aggregate was taken. Results were:—A team, Kaikohe, 23, v. Hawene, 16; B team, Kaikolie, 28, y. Rawene, 26. Members of the Rawene Croquet Club provided afternoon tea, which Was greatly enjoyed by the large crowd >Yhich came to see the play
