CONCESSION FARES
NEW CARDS FOR NORTH SHORE Yesterday, in pursuance of a res’oluti°n of the Takapuna Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Williamson) and Crs. J. Davis and J. W. Hayden requested the management of ’ the North Shore Transport Co., Ltd., to issue one-section bus concession tickets. The present minimum cash fare is threepence, and it was pointed out that the effect of this was to drive residents to the city for their shopping requirements. The deputation asked, further, for the issue of annual and other season tickets that would combine both bus and ferry journeys. The chairman of directors of the company, the Hon. E. W. Alison, stated in reply that the company was prepared to agree to the issue of 12trip concessions at 2s. Moreover, these would be available at all hours instead of the restricted daylight hours that the deputation suggested. With regard to the combined land and water season tickets, Mr. Alison stated that the difficulties in the way made the issue of these quite impracticable. The concessions will operate as from March 1, and will apply to any one section other than Belmont-Devonport and Belmont-Bayswater.
