The charge will be Id for adults jind ad for children under 12, with a minimum of 10s for organised picnics. "Motuihi is capable of tremendous development, but that work will be costly,” said the town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, yesterday, in justification of the toll, which was the council’s only source of revenue ror the payment of the caretaker’s wages of £ 5 u week. livery penny would need to be carefully ‘ nursed” if the facilities the public required, such as bathing sheds and h tra kisok, were to be provided. A considerable amount of work was also entailed in keeping the island clean. Mr. Brigham pointed out that such source of revenue was only available in the summer months. He understood similar tolls were levied in respect to Utkvr islands in the gulf.
