Four Badly Burnt by Launch Explosion

MERCURY BAY BLAZE A LUCKY ESCAPE (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. Four well-known residents of Tauranga were badly burnt yesterday when the launch Kingfish caught fire after an explosion in Mercury Cove, where it was lying at anchor. The crew comprised Captain Black and Messrs. Joseph. Merrilees and Hunt, and all were injured, Captain Black being in a serious condition. The crew of the launch Emerald saw the blaze and rescued the crew from their predicament, subsequently taking them to Mercury Bay, where they were taken to hospital. The launch Kingfish was salvaged in a very much-damaged condition.
