There is only one method oi getting the borer out of a house—that is by the drastic treatment of removing the boards which are attacked. More hope can be held out with regard to furniture, however. In this ease one should make an emulsion of kerosene and arsenic, and simply apply it to the holes. The holes run downwards, and so the stuff reaches the larvae and kills them. Since this emulsion is a deadly poison, care must be taken to keep children away from it. The best way to emulsify the borer "medicine” is by means of a little soft soap. Later, when the emulsion has done its work, the holes can be filled up with a special kind o£ furniture polish.
