MILNE AND CHOYCE’S WINS SHIELD ANNUAL COMPETITIONS In a carnival at the Tepid Baths last evening Milne and Choyce, Ltd., won the Master Drapers’ and Mercers* Swimming Shield from John Court, Ltd. A big attendance watched the sixth annual • competitions of the Retail Drapers’ and Mercers’ Swimming Association. Milne and Choyoe’s had a big lead in points. GRAMMAR HANDICAPS BRIDSON RACING LINDSAY The clash between D. P. Lindsay and Gordon Bridson in the 220yds swim will be the main attraction at the second carnival of the Grammar Swimming Club, to be held at the Tepid Baths this evening. Although Lindsay beat Bridson by a small margin at the national championships, Bridson’s subsequent wins in the quarter-mile and the half-mile add greatly to his chances. Beggy Robertson, who was so successful at Wellington. Dorothy Grant, Doris Magee and Edna Champion are among the women competitors. Mr. E. H. SHORE VISITING CITY
SWIMMING AT DEVONPORT North Shore swimmers are to have the opportunity of holding a carnival at the Tepid Baths instead of the usual gala programme at Cheltenham Beach. Last evening the Devonport S"* l ™- ming Club adopted a programme w hich will be decided at the baths. The date has yet to be fixed. The main event included was a half-mile AucUand championship and a 100yds first-class handicap will also be held. Sprint club and inter-club races will occupy an lmportant part of the programme. The annual primary schools beach gala was fixed for March 9. at Cheltenham. Prizes include the relay shield, the Herbert Smith Cup for aggregate points, and the Taanui Cup. The championships of the Takapuna Giammar School will be raced on the same date. The club will congratulate May Elworth for winning the junior girls’ championship at Wellington.
