RADIO IN CANADA
COMMISSION SET UP A Royal Radio Commission lias been appointed in Canada to consider vari- j ous methods of broadcasting control j and to submit to the present session of the Dominion Parliament recommendations to govern the future breadcasting in that territory. The commission consists of Sir John Aird, president of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, who will act as chairman; Charles A. Bowman, managing editor of the "Ottawa Citizen”; Augustin Frigon, director of technical education for the Province of Quebec at Montreal This commission will inquire into the relative merits of broadcasting by" privately owned stations operated on the basis of national ownership. The establishment of one or more high-powered broadcasting stations operated as private enterprises with Government support will be considered. Other questions to be looked into will be th° "blishment of such a system of stations to be owned and financed by the Dominion Government and the establishment and operation of stations by the various procincial governments. This task will take the commission throughout Canada, the United States. England and France.
