“FOUR WALLS” TO-MORROW

Buster Keaton’s uproarious comedy, 1 “ The Cameraman,” and the ex--1 citing detective story, ‘‘Shadows of the Night” will be screened at the l New Regent Theatre for the last time this evening. Joan Crawford makes a brilliant second appearance as a star at the New Regent Theatre to-morrow in “Four Walls,” in which MetroGoldwvn - Mayer have co - starred her with that great actor, irresistible lover, dashing fighter, John Gilbert. The story of “ Four Walls” centres around the life of an underworld gangster and his fight for rejuvenation against many bad influences, including that of his “girl.” It is one of the most poignant stories ever brought to the screen, and is signalised with fine actnig and most realistic direction. In addition to the two principals, Carmel Myers has a leading role. Vera Reynolds has shifted brittlefields! From the shell-scarred battle ground of Europe in “Corporal Kate,” to the ear-scarred battle mat of the fighting arena in “The Main Event,” 1 is the drastic change made by Miss Reynolds to her latest De Mille starring picture which will bo the second feature at the New Regent on Thursday. “The Main Event” is a story of the prize fight ring written for the screen from the original story, “That Makes Us Even,” by Paul Allison. Vera enacts the role of a pretty and attractive cafe entertainer who falls in love with one advocate of the “squared circle” only to discover that she really loves another fighter. Charles Delaney, Rudolph Schildkraut, Julia Faye and Robert Armstrong play featured roles. An excellent selection of supporting pictures will also be shown on the new programme and new music played by Mr. Maurice Guttridge’s Orchestra.
