FIRE AT WAIHI

(From Our Own Correspondent) WAIHI, To-day. A four-roomed" dwelling, owned and occupied by Mr. W. Smith, in Tauranga Road, Waihi, was badly damaged by fire at 2.30 o’clock this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Smith wdre visitingfriends in the country at the time of the fire, and the daughter slept with relatives, so that the house was unoccupied last evening. The back portion of the house was gutted, and the front partially destroyed. The furniture was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown. The house is insured in the Norwich Union Office for £IOO, and the furniture in the Yorkshire Office for £260.
