GARAGE GOSSIP

The Sports Motor-Cycle Club’s an nual hill-climbing contest at Man gere Mountain will be held on Satur day. February 23.

Messrs. Harrison and Gash, Ltd., “Morris” distributors, Khyber Pass, will shortly open a city showroom in Elliott Street.

Motorists travelling on the Auck-land-Hamilton road are advised by the A.A.A. to proceed carefully when on the northern section of the Huntly taV-sealing. A short gap of a few yards has been left unsealed and the sudden drop of several inches has been responsible for at least one broken spring. The difficulty is only temporary and in the meantime motorists should exercise care.

The Hargaville Chamber of Commerce has written to the Auckland Automobile Association requesting support of the following resolution: That the Main Highways Board be respectfully urged to use every endeavour to expedite the forming and metalling of the stretches of clay road between Silverdale and Maungaturoto, on the main Auckland road, pointing out that for the greater part of the year these stretches of clay are impassable, resulting in the North being very much hampered and its progress retarded generally.

The engineer of the Manukau County Council, Mr. Page, has expressed appreciation to the Auckland Automobile Association of the courteous manner in which motorists cooperated in the traffic tally which was recently taken on the PanmureHowick Road. The men in charge of the tally had to stop all motorists and ask rather impertinent questions, but in all cases motorists replied willingly and gave every assistance to the officials.
