Trains Collide at Thorndon Station
trucks wrecked
TEN SHEEP KILLED Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. A passenger train from Lower Hutt collided with the rear end of a stock train, which was shunting across the main line at Thorndon at 7.40 a.m. to-day, wrecking and derailing four trucks and killing ten sheep. The permanent way was very tittle damaged, but some time was occupied in clearing the wreckage. Only one outward train was held up, the Wairarapa express, which left at 9.15 a.m. instead of 7.57. Inward suburban passenger trains, however, were blocked, and strung out along the line toward Kaiwarra. A departmental inquiry is in progress.
