GOOD QUALITY FRIESIANS
There was a very large entry in pedigree Friesian classes at the Warkworth Show on Saturday, and the general quality was particularly good. Mark Fletcher won the bull championship with Omaha Van Pietje (Rex Paxton of Monavale —Friesland Van Vola), while Mr. J. Tutt won the cow championship with Bainfield Sylvia Clover.
Mr. Tutt’s pedigree Friesian cow, Bainfield Sylvia Clover (Rosevale King Sylvia—Clover 2nd of Wairuna) was adjudged the best dairy cow of any breed at the show, thus repeating her victory of 1928. Bainfield Sylvia Clover is quite a model type of dairy cow, her only fault from a Friesian standard being tnat she is a little on the small side. She is a lowset cow of great capacity with a splendid udder.
A demonstration of judging dairy cattle was given at the show on Saturday by Mr. J. P. Kalaugher, official demonstrator for the New Zealand Friesian Association, to a large audience.
