TONS OF MASONRY CRASH TO CITY STREETS

DAMAGE IN MELBOURNE (United P.A.—Ba Telegraph — Copyright) Rood. noon. MELBOURNE, To-day. The furniture factory of Wiseman’s, Limited, was destroyed by lire. The blaze was the most spectacular and manacing for years. Thousands of tons of masonry crashed into the narrow streets, through the roofs of adjoining houses. Two firemen were seriously injured. The damage is estimated at £20,000. A disastrous fire also occurred at Minyip, when five shops and their contents and a hotel were gutted. The damage is estimated at £12,000. A fire occurred at the small town of Tottenham, New South Wales. The post office and the chief business premises in the main street were destroyed. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO.
