The Log Book

PERSONAL. —Captain D. Christie is in command of the Tairoa and he has with him the following officers:—Chief, Ml*. J. Hart; second, Mr. A. F. Lockhart; third, Mr. F. Gilroy; fourth, Mr. G. The Kaitoke was recommissioned at Wellington on Friday, under command of Captain A. Reed. His deck officers are the following:—Chief, Mr. A. M. Lucas; second, Mr. S. W. Hodson; third, Mr. L. B. Thomas. The following are the engineers:—Chief, Mr. A. S. Ewan; second, Mr. R. 0. Olds; third, Mr. T. S. Knight; fourth, Mr. T. H. Downes. Mr. J. Hall, third officer of the Kaimanawa, has been invalided ashore at Auckland, and Mr. D. C. N. Champion has been appointed to succeed him. Mr. T. W. White, chief officer of the Waikouaiti, is on holidays at Sydney. Mr. F. G. Mabb is now chief officer of the Kaiwarra, having relieved Mr. R. B. Denniston, who is awaiting orders at Wellington. Mr. A. E. Rawlins has been appointed chief officer of the Kaiapoi. Mr. W. Johnson has rejoined the Waipahi as chief officer, after holidays. Mr. F. W. Collkis has succeeded Mr. D. N. McLeish, chief officer of the Hauraki, who has gone on holidays. Mr. C. Sharpe is now chief officer of the Wahine, having believed Mr. J. Dawson, who is ashore for instructions. Mr. A. MacDonald has joined the Kanna as chief engineer. Mr. J. Brown has rejoined the Katoa as second engineer, relieving Mr. J. G. Craig, who has transferred to the Kaitangata. Mr. C. Scott has joined the Wingatui as second engineer.

NIAGARA IN PORT. —This morning the R.M.S. Niagara arrived in the stream at Auckland from Sydney, and after pratique was granted berthed at the Prince’s Wharf shortly after 8.30 a.m. The liner left the New South Wales port last Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock and experienced good weather for the run across the Tasman Sea. The following passengers disembarked at Auckland:—
