WELL-SELECTED PROGRAMME

Mr. Alfred O’Shea grave the final concert aof his Auckland season at the Town Hall on Saturday evening - . The attendance was poor, but M,r. O’Shea was* received enthusiastically, and had to give many request numbers and encores before he finally left the stage. The supporting artists. Miss Theo. Halpin, Miss Mavis- Brevatt and Miss Ina Bosworth, received an attentive hearing, and all had to give encores. The programme selected by Mr. O’Shea included "Che Gelida Manina” (Puccini), "Has Sorrow Thy Young Hays Shaded” (Moore), "At Dawning” (Cadman), “Ave Maria” (Kahn), with violin obbligato, “Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes” (Johnson), and “An Evening Song” (Blumenthal). Miss Malpin’s pianoforte numbers included "Poisson D’or” (Dubussy) and “Polonaise in A Flat” (Chopin). The harp solos played by Miss Grevatt included "Murmuring Waves” (Oberthur), "Off in the Stilly Night,” and "Nearer My God to Thee.” iMss Bosworth played as a violin solo "Ave Maria.” Before the conclusion of the programme the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, thanked M,r. O’Shea and wished him success on his tour. Mr. aßildton traced .Mr. O’Shea’s career since the war and hoped to see him erturn to Auckland later. Mr. O’Shea thanked the Mayor and said he would be pleased to return after his overseas tour. Mr. O'Shea leaves this week for Wellington, sailing by the Makura for San Francisco on February 26.
