NEW SEAMEN’S UNION
WALSH’S ORGANISATION OPPOSED
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE, Friday.
Objections to the registration of the Australian Seamen’s Union, promoted by Mr. T. Walsh, have been lodged by the Commonwealth Steamship Owners’ Association, the Seamen’s Union of Australia, of which Mr. T. Fleming is acting-general secretary, the Wajtersiders’ Federation, and the Marine Cooks and Pantrymen’s Union.
Mr. Fleming’s affidavit against the registration of Mr. Walsh’s union mainly claims that this union is not a bona fide one. and that the existing Seamen’s Union embraces nearly 5.00« J members, whose interests are already adequately catered for.
