Mr. Richard Brophy, second in command of the Byrd expedition, will 1.-ave for Wellington to-morrow evening to meet the Makura from San Francisco. Mr. George Finn, president of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Association, returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington. The Rev. J. Adams, curate at St. George's, Frankton, for the last 18 months, and domestic chaplain to the bishop, has resigned and will leave at the end of the month. The Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of .rtailways, arrived in Auckland today by motor-car from Hamilton, and is at the Grand Hotel. He is accompanied by Mr. H. H. Sterling, general manager of railways. Mr. Justice Kennedy, the new judge, is to be resident in Auckland (writes ..ur Wellington reporter), and will leave for the North in a week’s time.
