Leslie Waller, of Remuera. * * * Mrs. John Cooke and Miss Gwen Cooke, who have been motoring in the Waikato, have returned to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Saunders, of Wellington, who are at present on a motor tom* of the North Island, are expected in Auckland in a day or two. * * * Mrs. T. AT. Wilford is returning to New Zealand by the Port Fremantle, which is expected in Wellington about February 15.
HAMILTON NOTES (From Our Own Correspondent) Mrs. Skeet and her two daughters left Cambridge on Monday for a holiday at Lake Rotoiti, • S Mrs. R. Worley, who has been spending some time on the Coromandel Coast, has returned to Hamilton. Miss M. Lysnar, who has been visiting Mrs. Parke Pittar, has returned to Gisborne. * 9 * Mrs. T. C. List, Miss R. List and Miss 15. List, of New Plymouth, who have been in Hamilton for a short visit, have gone on to Rotorua. FAREWELL PARTIES On Tuesday afternoon a very enjoyable tea party was given at the Wattle tea-rooms by some of the staff nurses of the Waikato Hospital for Sister Caldwell, who is leaving to become matron of the Waihi Hospital. The guest of honour was presented with a silver teapot and hot-water jug by her friends. Nurse SLronacli making the presentation. Those who were present were: Sister Caldwell, her mother, Mrs. Caldwell, of Ohauto Road, Miss M. Greville, Staff Nurses Stronacli, Hovell, Startin, Thompson, Buxton, Taylor, Hyland, Gamble, Hall. V. Troutbeck, Jackson, M. Gardner, Paton, Glenis, Mudford, Aroa, Johnson, Mahoney and Gordon. Miss Molly Armstrong, who left Cambridge on Monday to live in Te Aroha, was fare welled by several gay little parties last week. On Saturday affernon at the tennis courts, where Miss Armstrong has been woman champion for some seasons. Mr. Frank Penn, president of the cl*lb, asked her to accept from the club, a leather hat-box with her initials inscribed, and a beautiful powder box. Both Mr. Penn and Mr. Frank Swayne expressed great regret at Miss Armstrong’s departure, and all preser t joined in the musical honours that followed. On Sunday evening, after the service, the members of St. Andrew’s choir bade farewell to Miss Armstrong, who for the last eight years has been one of their members. Air. A G. Boyce in the unavoidable absence of the v.cur, asked M.xss Armstrong to accept a prayer book and a torch in memory of her long association with St. Andrew’s.
WELCOME HOME Mrs. Kibblewhite, who has been so successful at the Wanganui croquet tournament, was entertained by her fellow croquet players at a very pleasant “At Home” on the Whitiora lawns on Tuesday. Airs. Burrows, president of the- club, on behalf of the members, heartily congratulated Airs. Kibblewhit© on her achievements. All felt very proud to have the New Zealand champion in their club, and hoped she would long retain the title. Airs. Kibblewhite thanked her friends for their very warm welcome and congratulations. A delightful tea. at which the guest’s health was drunk with musical honours, was followed by a very happy afternoon of nrogressive golf and target croquet.

PLUNKET SOCIETY
TE AWAMUTU BRANCH
The monthly meeting of the committee of the local branch of the Plunket Society was held on Monday, Mrs. IT. Y. Collins, vice-president, in the chair. The nurse’s reports for the months of December and January showed respectively 20 and 19 new cases, 63 and 56 visits to homes, 137 and 148 visits to rooms by adults, 123 and 131 by babies, and 18 and 21 by older children; total visits 341 and 356. There were 151 babies and 28 older children. under supervision. A vote of thanks to the honorary treasurer, Air. F. W. Seven, for his attendance at the meeting and report on the financial position, was passed on the motion of Airs. Collins. Box donations for the two months were excellent, amounting to £4 Os Id, the average of £.2 a month constituting a record for the branch. Accounts amounting to £67 Gd were passed for payment.
OTOROHANGA ANGLICANS
RURI-DECANAL CHAPTER MEETS
The ruri-decanal chapter, comprising the combined parishes of Taumarunui, Te Kuiti, Piopio, Otorohanga and Kawhia, which was inaugurated by Diocesan Synod, held its third meeting to-day, at Otorohanga. As it occurred within the octave of the feast of the patron saint, St. Bride, of the Anglican Church here, the patronal festival was also held. Sung Eucharist was held at 11 o’clck, and BiSTiop Cherrington preached. The ruri-decanal chapter met at the vicarage at 2.30 p.m. The Rev. Air. Bush-Iving, of Ivawhia, read an interesting paper on “The Child and the Church,” after which a discussion followed on matters of interest to the rural deanery. The Bishop, Archdeacon Cowie and visiting clergy were entertained by parishioners in the Town Hall in the afternoon. Bishop Cherrington was the preacher at festal evensong in St. Bride's Church in the evening.
