JURY FAILS TO AGREE

CHARGES AGAINST MAORI

After deliberations occupying four and a-hall T hours the jury which heard evidence in the trial of Hira Eruera. a Maori aged 27, who was charged on four counts of carnal knowledge at Portland, near Wliangarei, reported in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon that it could not agree. On the application of Mr. V. X. Hubble, for the Crown. Mr. Justice Blair ordered a new trial for next criminal sessions. Prisoner was released, as before, on his own bail.
