NATIONAL
ADOLPHE MENJOU THIS EVENING Adolphe Menjou, the popular Paramount star who appears in his latest picture. “Mis Private Life,” at the National Theatre for the first time this evening, has been described us “the perennial rnan-about-town,” who teaches his less gritted fellows how to love lightly in self-defence. The grace and ease with which he bows out of liis screen amours creates about him a definite aura, all his own. i Men envy him his gay assurance. ; Women wonder if he is impervious to j all feminine wiles. They line up at the j box office to see just how Menjou does ! it, and his next film finds them back i again, still wondering. The above description of Menjou was I given by a popular motion picture j magazine, and is typical of the esteem i in which Menjou is held by motion pic- | tura fans. liis characterisation in j “Mis Private Life” fits the description perfectly, and he gives a remarkable performance in the type of story that funs have delighted seeing him in in the past. A notable * ast of players supports Menjou in liis latest film. Headed by blonde Kathryn Carver (who became Mrs. Menjou in Paris recently), the players ail fill their parts in a superb manner. Featured are Margaret Liv - ingston and Eugene Pallette. The film was directed by Frank Tuttle from an original story written for Menjou. An excellently varied supporting programme will also be presented to-mor-row*, including comedy and gazette. New musical selections will be presented by Mr. F. Bartlett's specia’ly-augmente-d orchestra.
