FATAL LESSON
MOTOR-CYCLE SALESMAN KILLED
TEACHING BUYER An accident, resulting in tlie death of one man, occurred yesterday afternoon when a motor-cycle salesman was giving a demonstration to a prospective buyer. Edward Diehl, aged 17, the salesman, received serious head injuries that lit? died t o hours later, while T. B. McKecliie, the buyer, escaped unhurt. About four o'clock yesterday afternoon Diehl, who lived at 6- Calgary i-H-ti-wet, - l ’Ed en dale, and who was employed as a mechanic and salesman, was teaching Mr. McTCechie, who is a dairy , farmer living in Mays Road, to ride the cycle. He was sitting in the side-car and McKecliie was driving. Just at the corner of Mount Albert Hoad and Mays Road the front wheel hit a large stone in the road, McKecliie lost control, and the combination crashed into the fence at the roadside. Diehl was thrown from the side-car with great force on to his head, receiving severe head injuries. He was taken into the Auckland Hospital by a passing motor-car, but died within two hours. McKecliie was unhurt and the machine only slightly damaged.
