FINANCIAL “GO-SLOW”

PRIME MINISTER TO MOVE WITH CAUTION

(Special to THB SUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. A policy of “go-slow” in financial matters appears to have been endorsed by Sir Joseph Ward until the end of the country’s next financial year. Early in his tenure of office Sir Joseph announced that he would move with caution until he saw how the land lay, and his investigations have convinced him that there is little money available from public revenua before next April. The prosperous year which the Dominion experienced in 1928, of course, will not be felt in increased revenue for some months yet, and meantime, it is understood, departmental heads and Ministers have been advised of the position and requested to keep expenditure down.
