THE WAIKATO WARS
OUTBREAK ON NEW FRONT (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. Ecclesiastical warfare in the Waikato has its counterpart in rumblings of dissension in the cricket camp. Evidence of this is afforded by the announcement that the president, Air. J. Reid, has resigned. At this week’s meeting, Mr. Reid, who was absent, wrote tendering liis resignation from all offices held by him under the association. The reason was that he considered the committee would work more harmoniously in the event of his resignation being accepted. Considerable discussion ensued, although the delegates felt a certain amount of diffidence in freely expressing their views owing to the president’s absence. RESOLUTION AND COUNTERRESOLUTION A resolution appointing a sub-com-mittee to approach Air. Reid to discuss with him the detailed reasons for his resignation, and requesting him to reconsider his decision, was lost. It was decided to request Air. Reid to attend the next ordinary meeting of the committee and to discuss fully with tho delegates matters alleged to be in dispute. Approached to-day, Air. Reid confirmed the statement that he had resigned, but declined to offer his reasons. A member of the committee stated that the internal workings of the committee had been the subject of controversy for some time, but the differences which existed were too petty to release for publication.
