“MOULIN ROUGE” ON FRIDAY

This evening will see the final screening at the Majestic Theatre of the breezy comedy-drama, “The Fleet's In.” This picture stars Clara Bow, “the madcap of the screen,” as a dance-hall hostess, loved by several sailorboys, particularly two played by James Hall and Jack Oakie. Another fine programme will be presented at the Majestic to-morrow headed by “Moulin Rouge,” an outstanding picture which stars Olga (T’scheckowa, Jean Bradin and Eve Gray. Miss Tscheckowa, a noted Continental actress, appears as Parysia, the star of the “Paris-New York’’ revue at the Moulin Rouge, Paris, whose daughter Camille, together with her fiance, visit the show for the purpose of introducing Marcel to her mother. The boy becomes infatuated with the mother’s charm, and falls desperately in love with her. The boy decides to turn his affections to the mother and break his engagement with the daughter. The girl, in proceeding" to the boy’s father to ask his consent to their marriage, is very seriously hurt in a car smash, which means a very critical operation. The boy durihg the time she is in hospital, realises the affection he bears the girl, and decides to cast: all other thoughts from his mind and go through with the ceremony. The picture is a compelling and nerve-tingling story of Paris and its night life with one of the most remarkable personalities on the Continental stage as the star. Olga Tscheckowa is the idol of millions of playgoers throughout Europe. Renowned for her many leading roles in musical comedy and revue, and with considerable film experience, she was the ideal choice for the part of the star in the famous Parisian cabaret show. A Majestic Magazine, comedy and nature study, “Amazing Lovers,” complete the pictorial side, but there will be a Stage Band presentation, “The Seven Crazy Clown Syncopators,” and Miss Folole Lilliokalani. Mr. Whiteford -Waugh’s Majestic Orchestra will play a special musical accompaniment.
