UNIMPROVED VALUES
WAITEMATA OPPOSITION
“If unimproved value is decided on I can see a procession of people off the land,” said Mr. IT. J. Atkinson at a meeting of ratepayers of the A\aitemata County this afternoon, convened under section 40 of the Rating Act, to oppose rating on unimproved values. There was a large attendance. Mr. Atkinsom, the convenor, said that the object of the meeting was to combat unimproved values in the Waitemata County, which was a good field for those wanting unimproved values. He believed that those, present were signifying their willingness to do this by their attendance, and he suggested that representatives of the various ridings be appointed to form a committee. A call showed that all but two of the ridings were represented. Riding representatives, with power to add to their numbers, were appointed as follow: Titirangi, Messrs. W. A. Bishop, A. B. Smith, Grierson; Takapuna, Messrs. A. G. Jacobs, H. Hockin, H. Lloyd; Kumeu, Messrs. W. J. Rodger. R. J. Lusher, Thomas; Waitakere, Mr. 11. A. Robertson; Waipareira, Messrs. R. R. Fisher, J. B. Parkinson: Wainui, Messrs.' G. L. Taylor, E. B. Brown. G. Murray; Waikumete, Messrs. H. M. Skeet, TV. H. Potter; Mairetahi, Messrs. J. C. Riramer, Mackie, Buckland. The committee met after the meeting to discuss the position.
