The weather was showery when racing began, but the course was not verymuch affected at the outset. The attendance was good. The summer meeting of the Gisborne Racing Club opened to-day in ideal weather, there being a large attendance and the track, in good order. JOCKEY INJURED FALL IN HURDLES Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. P. Adams, the rider of Atareria, fell in the hurdles and received severe facial and head injuries, and is suffering from concussion. SPEEDING UP AUSSIE STARTLES THEM BRILLIANT SIX FURLONGS Press Association DUNEDIN, To-day. Since Aussie arrived at Wingatui his work has been confined to slow to three-quarter pace exercise, but this morning Ire was sent out over six furlongs, with about his Publicans’ Handicap weight up. He was picked up over the last four fLirlongs by Untahi, and running the first four furlongs against a gaie of wind fully 20 feet out from the rails, he finished up, not ridden out, in 1.16 2-5, the last three furlongs in 38 2-5. This is one of the hest sprinting gallops ever seen at Wingatui.
