MARIE LOHR’S DIVORCE

SETTLEMENT OF £2,000 A YEAR ANTHONY PMNSEP’S MONEY (United P.-l - —ll g Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.10 a.m. LONDON, Wed. As a sequel to lier divorce from Anthony Prinsep, Marie Lohr is asking the Divorce Court to vary marriage settlements amounting to £20,000 and £86,000 made by Anthony Prinsep’s mother. It is now proposed to settle on Marie Lohr and her 15-year-old daughter property producing £2,000 a year. The registrar had approved of this, scheme, which meant that; £45,000 would be set aside in trust for Prinsep’s first wife and child, and the rest left for the husband, free of any trust. The trustees of the settlement, however, opposed the scheme, as it was a post-nuptial settlement, although both Anthony Prinsep and Marie Lohr had agreed to it. Counsel for Anthony Prinsep pointed out that his client had married again and was desirous of having power to make provision for his new wife. Counsel on behalf of Marie Lohr submitted that the proposed £2,000 a year was not excessive, as it left £6,000 a ybar for the husband.

Counsel for the trustees said that he was not concerned with any division of Prinsep’s income, but the proposed arrangement would hand over a capital sum of £50,000 to Prinsep for good and all, thus defeating his mother’s primary object under the original settlement, of protecting Prinsep against himself. Judgment was reserved.

Anthony Prinsep, who is a son of the late Val Prinsep, R.A., was divorced in London by Marie Lohr early last year. Soon afterwards he brought a company, with Margaret Bannerman in the lead, on a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Prinsep and Miss Bannerman were married a few days after their arrival in Melbourne last year, just before their tour began. The company appeared in Auckland recently, when Miss Bannerman played in “Our Betters," “Other Men’s Wives,” and “Diplomacy." She and Mr. Prinseps are at present in Melbourne.
