“MAN FROM TEXAS”
MYSTERY LETTERS FROM AMERICA WHEN GENERAL’S ILLNESS BEGAN (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. The “Daily Chronicle” states that when General Booth’s counsel presents his case he will contend that the general’s illness arose out of a campaign begun in 1926 in the form of letters over the signature of “A Man from Texas.” These letters were sent from America to staff officers in all parts of the world, and they undermined the general’s authority. The fact will be emphasised that other commissioners have had more than one year’s sick leave, and counsel will demand similar treatment for his client.
