The train departing from Papatoetoe at 7.30 a.m. is to be speeded up to arrive in Auckland before 8 a.m., so as to allow the use of workers’ ticket on that train. Passengers will, in the near future be able to break the journey between Papatoetoe and Auckland on a through ticket. Access is to b© given from the station direct on to the road, providing fadli. ties for the handling of luggage to waiting cars. This will obviate the necessity of using the ramp ag at present. Porters are to be given instructions to assist women and children from tKe station to the footpath. In addition to the above concession? the department has promised to consider the question of putting on a fast train in the morning and afternoon for the convenience of business people. The matter of providing trains to allow passengers to attend church eeivices in the city is to receive consideration. The questions of providing a biggur proportion of second-class carriages; the elimination of certain stops north of Penrose; speeding-up the service the continuation of a train to the present terminus when the new Aucklard station ia completed; and the lowering of fares on short suburban journeys were also promised favourable consideration. The matter of providing a feeder bus for the railway was also cocnsidered, and the league was asked to make inquiries as to whether the proposed traffic would warrant such a proposal.
