SUNKEN PONTOON

BEACH SILTING UP AT POINT CHEVALIER

A sunken pontoon off Point Chevalier is alleged to be spoiling the beach according to the Superintendent of Marine, Auckland.

Writing to the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday, the superintendent forwarded a copy of a report received from the inspector of beaches to the effect that the pontoon was causing a silting-up of the beach. Notice had been served on Dixieland, Ltd., to remove the obstruction.

‘‘Personally, I don’t believe it. but I am going to have a. look myself,” said the chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie. Members: Oh. it is quite true.
