SATURDAY’S GAMES (From Our Oxen Correspondent) WARKWORTH, Monday. Following are the results of Saturday’s games.— Port Albert, 144, defeated Mullet Point. 87, by 57 runs on the first innings. Bat - : ting for Port Albert, Wright made 37 • runs, A. Reid IS, K. Moore 34 and F. Partridge 19 not out. For Mullet Point, E. i Anderson made 20 runs, L. Anderson 16' and F. Lawrie 11. Bowling for Port Albert, F. Partridge took one wicket for 8 run, F. Reid four for 16, A. Reid three I for 40, and R. Gubb two for 7. For Mullet Point, E. Anderson took two wickets for 30 runs, F. Anderson two for 43, A. Martin two for 14, Algie one for 15, L. Anderson one for 8, F. Edwards one for 13 and W. Martin one for 5. Whangaripo, 116. and three wickets for 47, defeated Warkworth, 93 and 64, by seven wickets. Batting for Whangaripo, N. Vipond made 35 runs, S. Came 23 and 34. W. Came 16 (retired), L. Came 19, W. Armour 10. For Warkworth, C. W. Farman made 48 and 27, Ross 28, J Smith 20. Bowling for Whangaripo, N. ipond took four wickets for 73 runs, J.. Came five for 20, W. Armour five for 45. V. Wood two for 3. For Warkworth, C. W. Farman took three for 18, Cowie four for 72, G. Fulton two for 36 and MeCorkindale three for 12.
WAIKATO JUNIORS CAMBRIDGE, Monday. Rovers and United met at Victoria Square on Saturday, in the Waikato Cricket Association’s junior competition. United effected a surprise win over the leaders in the competition by 20 runs on the first innings, a three-point win. This was Rovers’ first defeat tnis season. NORTHERN WAIROA CRICKET ASSOCIATION By defeating Te Kopuru on Saturday, Dargaville appears certain to win the Northern Wairoa C.A. championship. Dargaville batted first, and made 13S runs (Purdie 37, O. Sundberg 28, Rush 22, Parore 22). Te Kopuru responded with 85 (Williamson 27 not out, Game 19). Bowling for Dargaville, Rush took five wickets for 29 runs, J. Sundberg three for 44, and Parore one for 10. For Te Kopuru 10 bowlers were tried, of whom Game (three for 11 and Groonie two for 4) had the best averages.
HAURAKI PLAINS CRICKET The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association has decided to extend its interclub competition by a round of oneday matches. These commenced on Saturday last, when Xgatea secured a two-point win from Pipiroa, Kopuarahi a two-point win from Waitakaruru, and Kaihere a similar win from Orongo. On Saturday next Orongo will play at Xgatea, Waitakaruru at Pipiroa and Kopuarahi at Kaihere. The draw for the rest of the round is as follows, but will be interrupted for representative matches with the Waihi, Piako and Thames Associations, and for the challenge match for the Court Cup:—Kaihere at Xgatea, Kopuarahi at Pipiroa, Orongo at Waitakaruru; fourth day, Xgatea at Waitakaruru, Kaihere at Pipiroa, Orongo at Kopuarahi; and last day, Xgatea at Kopuarahi, Orongo at Pipiroa. and Kaihere at Waitakarurur.
