JOINING THE LEAGUE
NEW PAPAL STATE WILL SEAT BE PERMANENT? (Australian and NZ. Press Association) LONDO.V, Monday. The new Papal State is expected almost immediately to seek membership of the Assembly and the Council of the League of Nations, according to the diplomatic correspondent of the League. He says there may be serious embarrassment over the question whether the new State should he given a permanent seat or be elected to a nonpermanent seat on the Council. It will be strongly argued that such a strong world Power ofight not to be subjected to the risks of an election.
