ONEHUNGA CLUB’S EVENT
The first race of the Onehunga Racing Pigeon Club’s young bird series was flown from Te Awamutu on Saturday under very trying conditions. The winner was Mr. J. Wallace’s A.ll Red, who flew the SI miles in 3 hours 7 minutes, recording a popular win. Results: — £
Mr. J. Wallace’s r h All Red, 761 yards a min., 1: Messrs. D. R. M. Wallace and Son’s b c c Unique, 748yds a minute, 2: Messrs. Langton Bros.’ g c Royal Spec, 680yds a minute, 3: Mr. F. Glass’s blk c Imperial Prince, 646yds a minute, 4. Birds were also flown by Mr. W. Larkin (626yds), Mr. W. Leng (490yds), and Mr. A. Langton (470yds). PONSONBY CLUB The Ponsonby Pigeon Club’s 1929 young bird race, from Muntly. yesterday, an air-line distance of 53 miles, was won by Mr. W. Walker’s b c c National Tempest (548 yards) ; Mr. Frankham’s r c c St. Leger, 398 yards. 2; Mr. R. Speirs’s b h, Bon Light, 382 yards, 3. AVALON CLUB The Avalon Pigeon Club’s race, from Te Awamutu, an airline distance of 86 miles, was won by Messrs. Scott Bros’s m c Silver Blaze (614 yards); Messrs. Knight and Hansen’s r p c Flying Star, 611 yards, 2; Mr. H. Clay’s r c c Golden Enterprise. 571 yards, 3.
