HIS MAJESTY’S NEXT WEEK A tremendous amount of interest lias been infused in the initial production here of the big and beautiful musical play, “The Vagabond King,” which is to be staged by the J. C. WiUiamson, Ltd., management at His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday, February 12. “The Vagabond King” is just terminating the most successful season of any musical play ever staged in Sydney, and it ran for over three years in London and New York. Altogether there are over 100 people concerned in the production, including a full operatic orchestra and chorus. The initial production here of “The Vagabond King” will signalise the reappearance in Auckland of Mr. James Liddy. who made himself popular with “The Student Prince” company. Miss Strella Wilson, too, will make a welcome reappearance, and so will Arthu r Stigant and Cecil Kellaway, two brilliant and popular comedians. “The Vagabond King” is said to be the most gorgeous and most expensive attraction yet sent to New Zealand by the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management. Nancy Carroll and Gary Cooper liave completed their latest co-featuring picture for Paramount, “The Shopworn Angel.” Richard Wallace directed the production, which is from an original by Dana Burnett, a wellknown magazine writer.
