Pedal Marathon A cross America

'PRiZES TOTAL £12,000 Any of Auckland’s crack distance runners feel like jogging across America from coast to coast for a nice little prize of £5,000? If so, they can start right away to pack up and get ready to reach New York on March 3L, the starting time of Mr. C. C. Pyle’s great trans-continental Bunion Derby. Heartened by the success of last year’s gallop across the States, the indefatigable promoter is staging a second world-wiae contest in a couple of months’ time, with another £12.000 in prize money. Even the 15tli prize is worth £l4O. Last year there was scathing comment in New York papers about the race. Some even hinted that the ambitious promoter wouldn’t pay out at the finish. But C. C. Pyle not only paid out in full, but he reckons that so. successful was the event, and such is the demand from the towns and cities en route that a second pedal marathon is called for.

This time, C. C. is telling the world about it per medium of a descriptive booklet, a copy of which arrived at The Sun Office this week. Any Auckland athlete who is interested can peruse it on calling at the Sports Department of The Sun.
