The fate of a family of nine who had cost the Wellington Hospital Boa.rd about X 1,600 since they arrived from England eight years ago’ was discussed at a board meeting to-day. Mr. G. Petherick said the cost of £2OO a year showed no signs of decreasing. He thought the board would have to support *the family so long as they remained there. The father had a pension in England of £1 0s lOd a week, but there was a dispute, and it was stopped before he cam© to New Zealand. The Social Welfare Committee intended to consider at the next meeting the advisability of recommending the board to send the whole nine of them back to England. There was no chance of settling the pension dispute while the man remained in New Zealand.
