W. Turner, of Tauranga, may surprise sculling experts when he appears at the Championship Regatta at Picton in three weeks time. Sculling cleanly and powerfully, he accounted for both St. Clair and Molesworth at Hamilton last Tuesday. St. Clair, who was third, was leading at one stage of the race, but was overtaken by both Turner and Molesworth, the latter gaining second place two lengths behind the Tauranga crack. St. Clair was scratch, Molesworth had five seconds and Turner three. Turner sculled a well-judged race and was striking 36 when he crossed the line.
