PROTEST TO LEAGUE

GERMANY AND COLONIES Times Cable. LONDON, Tuesday. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says that the German Government has decided to call the attention of the Mandates Commission of the League of Nations to Sir Hilton Young’s report on East Africa. The object of so doing is to safeguard Germany’s rights under the Treaty of Versailles, and especially to prevent annexation. The report by the commission over which Sir Hilton Young presided, suggested a Union of East Africa, involving Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika, with a total area of nearly 700,000 square miles. This caused an outcry from Germany, who considered that her former colonies were endfingered.
