PICNICS AT SWANSON
RECHABITES’ OUTING Over 800 attended the picnic yesterday of the Independent Order of Rechabites. The outing was at Swanson Recreation Park, ajid cricket, swimming races, and other field games were popular. The New Lynn Boys’ Band was present. Results of the sports were: Bovs’ Races.—S to 10: Wilson, 1; Markwick, 2. 10 to 12: Berman, 1; King, 2. 12 to 14: Hughes, 1; Clarke, 2. 14 to 16: Pedlar, 1; Jarnton, 2. 16 to 18: Wyatt, 1; Smith, 2. Girls’ Races.—S to 10: J. Double, 1; G. Cameron, 2. 10 to 12: A. Weir, 1; F. Payne, 2. 12 to 14: P. Beswick, 1; W. Constable, 2. 14 to 16: M. Germon, 1; M. Breer, 2. 16 to 18: T. Norris, 1; L. Small, 2. Members’ Races.—Single men: J. Goldsbury, 1; W. Small, 2. Single women: M. Mack, 1; E. Gibb, 2. Married men: T. Hughes, 1; A. O. Jones, 2. Married women: Mrs. Hughes, 1; Mrs. Day, Visitors’ Race.—R. Wilson, 1; M. WTight, 2. The picnic was managed under the direction of Mr. R. H. Wilson. POSTMEN’S BIG DAY Over 400 were at the picnic held by postment of Auckland at Swanson Park on Tuesday. A big programme of sports events was decided. The picnic was managed by Messrs. W. J. Davidson, W. Swift and A. E. Page. Results of the sports were: Men’s Races.—Postmen’s 100yds championship: Austin, 1; Airey, 2. Sorters’ 50yds: Nankervis, 1; Swift, 2. Married postmen’s 75yds handicap: Coggins, 1; Harvey, 2. Postmen’s 100yds handicap: Dempsey', 1; Bregman, 2. Postmen’s 75yds novelty race: Coggins, 1: Arey, 2. Visitors’ 100yds: Butler, 1; Moore, 2. Committeemen’s 75yds: Davidson, 1; Moore, 2. Old men’s race: Linkhorn, 1; Keymar, 2. Cigarette race: Moore, 1.
