GOOD SAVE BY BRIGADE

CAUSED BY PAINTER’S LAMP Flame from a painter’s blow-lamp se£ fire to a 12-roomed two-storey house, 104 Remuera Road, at noon yesterday, but the Remuera Brigade made a good save. The house was owned and occupied by Mrs. Robert Rose. Painters were at work on the building, and one of the workmen was using a blow-lamp on a window-sash in an upstairs room. In some way the flame got inside the room and a blaze resulted. The occupants were trying to save apparel when the brigade arrived and put out two leads of hose. Tho fre was confined to a small area, two rooms being damaged, but water penetrated to the lower storey. The building was insured for £3,500 and the contents for £2,000, with the New Zealand Insurance Companj’.
