DECK BEAM FROM STEAMER Concrete proved to be stronger than At the new station yards a concrete steel this morning. pile was driven right through a steel deck-beam from an old steamer. The beam was three-quarters of an inch thick and was embedded in the earth. There were two flanges, six inches and two inches, on the edges of the beam, which was eight feet long. It had been used in the construction of an old Shaw, Savill and Albion Company building on the site. The concrete pile was not fractured. The beam is to be burned from around the pile by oxy-acetone.
