Cobbe. arrived in Auckland this morning- He opened the Harbour Boards' Conference e.t 10.30 a.m., and gill investigate minor departmental Questions while in the city. He is stayins at the Star Hotel, and is accomnanied by Mr. G. C. Godfrey, Secretary of Marine, and Mr. J. W. Collins, Secretary of Commerce.
Mr. H. Paykel left for Sydney by the jjiagara last evening.
Major F. Waite, M.P. for Clutlia, left Auckland for the South Island last evening.
Mr. Beaumont Smith. managing director. J. C. Williamson Films (N.Z.), btd. went South last evening.
Professor T. A. Hunter has accepted the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of New Zealand. —P.A.
Dr. E. Kidson, New Zealand Government meteorologist, returned by the Limited to Wellington last evening.
Professor T. H. Easterfleld, director of the Cawthron Institute at Nelson, left last evening for Wellington.

The Hon. T. Shailer Weston, M.L.C., president of the New Zealand Employers' Federation, Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning. Mr. J. Linklater, M.P. for Manawatu, accompanied by Mrs. Linklater, arrived in Auckland this morning. They are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. George Stubbs, headmaster of the Featherston School, and formerly ,f Auckland, has been transferred to ihe Auckland Point School at Nelson. Mr. Joseph Butler, managingdirector of the Kauri Timber Company, ~nd Mr. J. R. Bishop, a director, remrned by the Slaunganui yesterday after a business visit to Australia. Mr. H. R. Dix, representative of the Marlborough Aero Club at the recent Civil Aeronautical Conference in Washington, returned to New Zealand by the [Niagara yesterday. He will tour the North Island with Mrs. Dix before returning to Marlborough. Mr. Frank Bird, clerk, of the Magistrate's Court at Whangarei, has been transferred to a similar position at Uamam. Mr. A.
