To-day’s Recipe MARLBOROUGH SANDWICHES jXGBEDIENTS : Short past ry, quarter of a pound of cooking apples, two bananas, two ounces of seedless raisins, one ounce of caster sugar, a tablespoonful of lemon juice. Line a baking tin with short pastry; for this quantity it should be about ten inches by seven inches. Peel, core and cut the apples into very thin slices, peel and slice the bananas. Put half the apple on the pastry , sprinkle with half the sugar. Next put the raisins, then the bananas , sprinkle with lemon juice, then the remainder of the apples and the sugar. Cover with a thin layer cf pastry. Brush over with milk; sprinkle with caster sugar and bake 40 minutes *in a moderate oven. When cold, cut into squares with a sharp knife.
