Thunderstorrfis were experienced yesterday in many parts of New South Wales. They were followed by gales. Trees were uprooted, roads were blocked and telephone communication was interrupted. The Albury district suffered particularly in this respect. Some rain fell which helped to extinguish scrub fires, but more rain is needed. The shortage of water in many places is acute.
