LYRIC
“ME, GANGSTER” Under the surface of "Me, Gangster,” now at the Lyric Theatre, one finds a lesson to parents on the upbringing of their offspring. Don Terry, who plays the role of “Jimmy Williams” in the Charles Francis Coe story, becomes a gangster because of environment and the lack of parental influence and precept. No production in a long time has embodied quite the human drama that ‘‘Me, Gangster,” has. June Collyer heads the supporting cast. “The Fortune Hunter” is the second I feature. This is a delightful Syd. J Chaplin comedy. “SPEEDY” AT BRITANNIA Harold Lloyd’s latest comedy, “Speedy,” will be shown at the Britannia Theatre this evening. Briefly, the story is that of a boy who is an ardent baseball fan —in fact, so much so, that it hurts him in a “business way.” Instead of bending his efforts to the job in hand, he spends all his time day-dreaming of his favourites on the diamond, especially Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, the Yankee stars. He is fired summarily from job to job for the same reason. He is dubbed ‘Speedy” because of his aptness in obtaining and getting fired from work. However, a crisis occurs in his home 'ife, and with that of the girl he loves, so Speedy bends all his efforts to help rectify the trouble, and the resulting experiences smack of the high, standard Lloyd has set for himself. The second picture this evening will be a complete story of “The Collegians,” that band of bright young Americans at a typical American college.
